Session 8 Class 7

I've had these camera stamp sets on my desk for quite a while, but the inspiration hasn't come until this week! I found an old paper pack, Stella. I love the colour combination with this paper pack. This has quite a bit of stamping, but I love the final layout. I created the camera sheet on the left side by stamping the camera's in a repeat pattern and filling the open spaces with a few words. I cut the camera from the You Are Here Cricut Cartridge. I finished off the layout with a cute washi tape banner, some jewels and baker's twine.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 6 Class 11

This layout has a preview of the May stamp of the Month, called Live, Laugh, Love (S1705). I've always loved this saying and the letters with the flowers inside are just beautiful. I decided not to colour the flowers in on this layout as I liked the look of the green myself, but I encourage my students to do so if they would like to. This layout uses the Hello Lovely paper along with Sorbet and Sea Glass cardstock. I like that while there is minimal patterned paper, it is still very impactful and has lots of room for pictures.  To complete the layout, I added some gems in the Sea Glass and Sorbet colours, then some washi tape and the blush shimmer ribbon. This layout is great for family, heritage, spring, or any occasion where there is lots of love and laughter.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 6 Class 8

With spring break happening this week, Easter is right around the corner. This super cute bunny stamp set was the February stamp of the month. I paired it with the Dreamin' Big floral paper. For the title, I stamped it multiple times in Whisper gray and once in Poppy red to make it pop. I coloured in the flowers on the top border stamp to add some colour. I added accents to the patterned paper on the right side and then completed that side with the cute "There's nobunny like you" stamp.
I have made this layout with an optional advanced technique which I detail in the steps below by stamping on Washi tape and then cutting out and placing on top of the original stamps.

First, select washi tape that is wide enough for the portion of the stamp that will be cut out.
Place the washi tape on wax paper and stamp the portion on the stamp onto it using archival black or Staz-on ink.

Cut out most of the stamp, leaving part of the image uncut. Then peel off of the wax paper and finish cutting the washi tape. If you do not remove the partially cut image prior to finishing the cutting, it makes it very hard to peel afterwards - I tested and tried and failed twice before realizing this so please heed my words!

Adhere the cut out piece directly on top of the fully stamped image. I'm loving the pattern and dimension these cute shirts lend my little rabbit family.

This is the layout prior to adding the washi tape shirts. This is the easier layout and just as cute as it only requires stamping and a bit of colouring on the top border of the flowers. I should mention I forgot to add the buttons prior to taking the picture so please be aware that the buttons are still part of the layout. As an alternative, you can also stamp Happy Spring instead of Happy Easter or another saying.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 6 Class 7

I think that everyone has some Stampede pictures stashed somewhere in their piles of photo's. What better way to showcase them than on this super cute western layout. This used a combination of some paper packs and cardstock without overpowering the layout. I also always enjoy using Kraft paper for the base pages, it give a rustic feel to the layout. I used the Old West Cricut cartridge for the title Saddle Up and the pocket handkerchief. The stitched detailing on the pocket was done by using a white gel pen and a couple of silver brads and a folded over piece of washi tape. The handkerchief is tucked inside the pocket to be used as hidden journaling and just slides out to reveal the tale. To complete the layout, I stamped a lace image, added a washi tape pennant and a wooden star in the bottom right, I then used a blue pen and drew on stitches around the patterned paper and the handkerchief to tie everything together.
The handkerchief journaling piece outside of the pocket.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 6 Class 6

The more I look at this layout, the more versatile it becomes to me. I used 3 different paper packs left over from previous classes to create this layout but used the stamp sets to really set the theme. Instead of a road trip, this could also be a great overseas layout such as Europe. Because of the scrabble paper and the lettering, just change the stamp set and title used and it would also make a great school layout. Since I already held my north blitz class this past Sunday, a few of the ladies used the province stamps instead of the van. They also selected a different title that was more suited to their destination.

To finish off the layout, I inked the edges of the base pages with black ink and sanded down the black photo mat cardstock to also distress. I used arrow washi tape and placed it around the layout directing your eye from one side of the layout to the other in a bit of a maze pattern. I also incorporated a metal arrow on the top right into my arrow maze. This also adds some 3d dimension. After stamping my images on colonial white cardstock, I cut them out and popped them up with 3D foam tape. I stamped my title directly to the base page.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 5 Class 10

If you made it to the retreat you have already experienced the Oh Deer! paper pack and oh my is it ever gorgeous. The reverse side of this paper is pinecones and pine needles.

I decided to play up the fun of the deer on this layout. Along the Whisper grey cardstock is some Juniper washi tape, I dove-tailed my longer piece and then placed it upside down on the washi tape on one half of it. On the other half of the washi tape, I put down the smaller Whisper grey squares, leaving space to fold the tape around the edges. This ensured that I had an even amount of washi tape on all 3 of my squares because I could line them up better instead of cutting out pieces first and then lining them up. The longer cardstock piece anchored the tape well. I then cut the washi tape and folded the edges around the cardstock.

I completed the layout with a Cricut title from Winter Frolic, a wooden deer and some twine wrapped around the bottom of the left side and knotted.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 4 Class 8

The Kaleidoscope paper works well with an Easter theme so I decided to play up the bits of color in the paper by tissue paper inking my eggs. I cut out the bunny and the title with the Artistry Cricut cartridge and these cute eggs are on the Art Philosophy one. I just added some washi tape to finish it off. There is lots of room for a journaling block if needed.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 4 Class 2

I'm going to apologize in advance for the not so good picture, but you can only do so much with a phone camera. Sometimes they're pretty good, but not the best this week. This layout looks super cute in person. I'm using the Regatta paper pack with the gradient paper and on the other side of the gradient paper is a light blue stripe on white, very hard to see from here, but it is visible. To add some fun to the title, I placed the gold polka dotted Washi tape on white cardstock and cut out "Bright" with the new Artistry Cricut Cartridge. I then adhered it with 3D foam tape before stamping "Life is". I finished off the layout with more Washi tape and some antiqued brass embellishments. I also forgot to write in the sizes of the photos. All of the white papers on the pomegranate paper are representative of photo's, sorry about that, I usually write the sizes on them.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 2 Class 3

This is the Brushed paper pack and when I originally saw it in the book, I wasn't a huge fan of it because of the big bright flowery print. I do like the other pages in the paper pack though and using only part of the bold print really brings the whole thing together. I also used a cricut overlay from the Artbooking cartridge to cut down on the boldness as well. I feel that it adds almost a window pane feel to the flower print. This layout would be good for a generic spring layout or as an Easter layout as well. To add some extra texture, I used washi tape, some paper flowers and brads and some rhinestone flourishes.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 1 Class 8

I saw a blog post on Pinterest using Washi tape to make a quick flip book without Flip-Flaps quite some time ago and wanted to use it in class as it is a quick and easy way to add pictures that you still want to include on your page, but may not be quite as prominent as some others.

My family's trip to Zoolights was the perfect example as I still wanted to include the pictures of the lights, but my son and husband were more important to showcase, obviously. The flip book was fairly easy, I just cut some paper, patterned or cardstock works, a normal mat size for my pictures then spaced them out on my page so that I can still see a portion of the picture. I then adhered the paper to the page with Washi tape and made sure it was stuck down really well by rubbing over it with my fingers several times. I also flipped the paper up and then creased the Washi tape so that a fold was premade and when the pictures are flipped through, there isn't a chance of the Washi tape coming off. If you have lots of pictures, you can also add pictures to the undersides of the paper in the book.

I finished off the page with some Christmas Village stamps, some ribbon and a circle cut out from the CTMH Artbooking Cricut cartridge. If you so desire, this layout could also be split up into a front page of a book and a back page. Just add another title to the left side.

2014 Christmas Card Workshop

I had some fun with the cards as I did play with the Artfully sent CTMH Cricut Cartridge a bit. I also used Art Booking and Art Philosophy for some elements on the cards as well. I had a request from one of my ladies, to use one stamp set so that if someone wanted to, they could purchase it and complete more of the cards at home. It can be challenging to use only one stamp set for Christmas cards, but that's also because I have quite a collection of Christmas Stamp sets that I love to use. Anyway, here are the cards that we will be making on Saturday. Let me know which one is your favorite. I hope you enjoy!

Scrapaholics Unite Session 1 Class 5

I had a bit of fun with this layout as it's so brightly coloured with all of the strips of paper. I also used washi tape for 2 of the strips to add more pattern and dimension while grounding the layout with the solid card stock pieces. The title was actually a 2 line stamp, so I used a partial mask to make it one line. I also had a bit of fun by using one of my older stamp sets, the house and playing around with different whimsy decor and then cutting it out to add to the "home" theme of the layout. I finished it off with some 3D jewels, dots and a heart puffy.

DRCC Session 7 Class #11

Alright ladies, this is the last class of the session. While most of my layout designs are from the CTMH voluminous series of design books, I recently saw this blog post from Creating Keepsakes and thought that the layout by Jing-Jing Nickel would be a great class for my ladies. Of course I have changed it somewhat as I don't have quite as many layers, but the concept is about the same and I got to use lots of washi tape!!

I cut out the title using the CTMH Cricut Artbooking cartridge and the background large circle was from the Artiste cartridge.

I used the Balloon Ride paper pack again as the colors matched so wonderfully, but I pulled out the green of the water in the hippo tank by using Juniper as a mat for the pictures and in the washi tape as well. I added accents of the sorbet this time, by only using the ribbon.

This may be the last blog post for some time, until baby #2 arrives and we settle in over the summer (although I did do a super cute layout at the last retreat that I would love to share), but I will be having workshops in my basement as I've been able to stumble upon some great deals on tables and chairs recently so that I have somewhere for everyone to sit and work on! I'm excited to host them in my own home as it will definitely make it a bit easier for me especially with 2 kids, but I will definitely miss my class at Deer Run. It has been marvellous these past 3 years and I hope you all can come to my house for my classes! I do think we'll still have crops in the south occasionally, but the cry from my north ladies is quite loud lately. Please comment and share and I will see you again in the Fall!

PS. there may be a new post in August about the wonderful new Idea Book coming out and possibly a baby pic or 20...

DRCC Session 7 Class #7

The Babycakes paper pack is just so adorable, I couldn't help but use it for my little monkey once again. Plus I got to try out my new Artbooking cartridge that has the coordinating shapes for the lion and giraffe on this stamp set so the ladies in my class didn't have to cut them out by hand. They loved that!

DRCC Session 7 Class #4

I know, I have no pictures on my layout. I desperately need to send pics in to get printed, only problem is that they are on my moms computer...I'll get there, one day. I do know which pictures I'm putting in here at least so that will help. If I can get them printed in a timely fashion I promise to update this post with a newer picture.

This is the Skylark paper pack. I like the contrast of the Lagoon and Juniper blue papers, plus the arrowed zipstrip that is along the bottom is a really nice accent and I placed them over top of some juniper washi tape. Because the paper was quite busy, I kept the accents to a minimum, but to bring out the distressing, I did ink the edges of all of the paper. I've added a cut out bird in one corner and the pennant on the right will also serve as a journaling space.

DRCC Session 6 Class #9

I had this collection of pictures of my son that were somewhat random. They were all from when he was about a month old to when he was about 3 months old and I never knew how to group them together. I came across this layout idea in the Magic How-To book and thought that it was such a cute layout, how could I not use this in class. It was pretty easy to assemble, just a few pieces of cardstock here and there, then add the stars, pop up couple with 3D foam tape and then fake stitches around the pieces. I added some Washi tape and some star brads as well. I hope you like it as much as I do. Sometimes simple with a bit of a pop works really well.

DRCC Session 6 Class # 6

How is Halloween not the cutest holiday when you have a small child? I like this layout because it doesn't limit the placement of pictures, yet it gives structure to the layout. I used a Cricut to cut out the title and added some button brads and some mesh ribbon tied in a knot as well as some Washi tape to add some embellishment. I cut up the zip strip as it has Halloween words on it to use for journaling strips.

DRCC Session 6 Class # 5

I originally struggled with the ProPlayer paper pack as I didn't quite know how I could make this useful to every student in my class. Once I received the paper in my shipment, I saw that one of the papers has a hexagonal pattern on it and knew exactly how I could make this paper work. I got inspiration from an old catalogue and the hexagonal stamp set that I had purchased quite some time ago. It was interesting to develop a pattern with the shapes. I finished the layout off with some Washi tape, the red tape is from CTMH and the black chevron was found at Michaels. I cut out the title with my Slice and framed the layout with the zip strips from the paper pack.
