Scrapaholics Unite Session 2 Class 2

Valentine's Day is right around the corner and the Heartstrings paper pack is perfect to document all your lovely pictures. I like the contrast of the Lagoon and Whisper grey colors with the Cranberry and Hollyhock. I brought a lot of texture to this layout by using pattern stamps, such as the border on the right side. As well, I used the patterned paper from the pack along with the zipstrip which is the piece of paper with the arrows on it. There is versatility in the layout with the pictures as you are able to rearrange the placement to suite your needs.

I didn't use one large title this time as I felt that there was enough with the stamped sentiments. To customize the Dimensional Element chipboard hearts, I stamped on them using different patterns and then layered them with 3D foam. 

DRCC Session 4 Class#4

The Dakota paper pack also another versatile collection. It's original theme is more western or country, but by using the right card stock it became more neutral. I made it even more masculine by using the wood grain pattern for the largest pieces of paper on the layout. It could become more feminine by flipping those same pieces and using the houndstooth pattern instead, which would work nicely as well with the button brads. For the title, I used chipboard letters and accented with some gems. I then stamped a cute saying and popped it up with some 3D foam to accentuate it.

DRCC Session 3 Class #7

This started out as a fairly simple layout, I added a touch of Sunset here and there and then I found these great chipboard banner pieces. It was easy enough to cover them, it was adding the 3D element. Folded paper just didn't seem to work. So off I went to 2 different scrapbooking stores. I finally found some Olive (I was looking for a dark navy color, but no luck) grosgrain ribbon with stitching so that I could pull the inside stitch together to create the circle. After that it was easy enough to add some cute stamps and glue dot it all together.

DRCC Session 1 Class #4

I used the new Roxie paper pack from CTMH for this layout. I love the contrast of the feminine pink rose paper with the pink and black plaid. I used all parts of the paper for this layout, including the zip strips as the scalloped border.

I'll be teaching how to emboss at the next class for the title here. I just used black embossing powder and stamped the title on with Versamark ink. I also embossed the "too cute!" sentiment onto the chipboard flower.

We will also be getting a chance to add some bling to the page with the new Bling buttons and as an extra sparkle, I placed the mini sparkles on top of a few of the paper gems on the zip strips. 

DRCC Session 1 Class #1

I'm teaching a scrapbooking class at the Deer Run Community Centre starting tomorrow evening, November 1, and I'm hoping to use my blog as a means to teach some other people as well. It's a 10-week course and we will be completing a 2 page layout during each class.

This is the first layout that we're doing and can be changed to be party or children themed . It's a fairly simple one to get started, but it's teaching some basics. I'm concentrating on stamping with this class, although we are using chipboard and brads as 3D embellishments. The lesson is also about continuity. You can see that I'm repeating the stitching pattern that is on the star paper on my larger chipboard stars as well as using a similar flourish in the title as in the inner stamped star on the larger stars.

Irresistibles Chipboard

The Irresistibles Dimensional Elements Chipboard is a fairly new product from Close To My Heart. They have made the chipboard with a pattern that shows up once you have inked or chalked the pieces. This makes the products extremely versatile because then you are able to color your chipboard to match with your layout perfectly. All CTMH chipboard comes in white to easily alter it with ink, chalk, markers or any other type of medium. See the hearts and the swirl on the left side of my Sweet Smile layout above. 


To make your own Irresistible chipboard you just use an emboss resist method of stamping. Stamp the white chipboard with Versamark ink with the stamp of your choice, then use white embossing powder. After heat setting the powder, ink or color the chipboard with the color that co-ordinates with your layout.
