DRCC Session 4 Class#4

The Dakota paper pack also another versatile collection. It's original theme is more western or country, but by using the right card stock it became more neutral. I made it even more masculine by using the wood grain pattern for the largest pieces of paper on the layout. It could become more feminine by flipping those same pieces and using the houndstooth pattern instead, which would work nicely as well with the button brads. For the title, I used chipboard letters and accented with some gems. I then stamped a cute saying and popped it up with some 3D foam to accentuate it.

DRCC Session 4 Class #3

I really enjoyed making the flowers for this layout, they were really easy and I think add a great 3D effect with very little effort. The Flirty paper from CTMH went perfectly with Autum's dress in these pictures. 

When I initially stamped the title with the Keepsake Alphabet, it looked too plain. This alphabet includes very small words, 2 words per letter that start with the same letter, since adorable was one of the small words, I stamped it in bamboo as a background for my title. 

The 3D flowers were quite easy to make, if you have a scallop circle punch, some tissue paper and a brad, you're halfway done! I first folded my tissue paper so that I had 8 layers, then I punched a scalloped circle through all 8 layers. It was fairly easy since tissue paper is quite thin. Then I didn't have to mess around with punching 8 separate circles. You could also use a regular circle punch, which I did try, but it didn't give as much dimension as the scalloped circle does. 

Take all 8 circles and move them around a little bit so that they aren't all quite so perfectly lined up. Then secure to the layout where you want the flower to be using a brad. You can use any brad as you won't see it once you're done fluffing it up. 

Starting with the top circle of tissue paper, scrunch it up with your fingers towards the centre, around the brad. 

Continue with the second and third layers of tissue paper, scrunching it towards the centre. With each layer surrounding the previous one. Continue through the whole flower,  leaving at least the bottom layer intact so that it gives a full base. 

Then you're done and you have a very easy 3D flower in whatever color of tissue paper you have on hand. Takes about 2 minutes give or take.

DRCC Session 4 Class #2

The new Clementine paper pack is so versatile that you can use it for almost anything. I used it to scrapbook my niece's first birthday party, but you could use it for a western layout or anything country-esque. I embellished it with the new burlap ribbon and some hemp bows. As well as using markers to do fake stitching as borders around the base pages, journalling and my title.

DRCC Session 4 Class #1

After a great summer, I'm ready to get back into the swing of things. This session will be 12 weeks long so that means 12 great layouts to scrap. With the new Idea Book, there are some really nice papers that you'll be seeing. This layout uses paper from La Belle Vie. I thought it worked well for a more loving layout. I used the new Tulle ribbon and also cut out some die cuts and Je t'aime from my Slice cartridge J'adore. Please come back later this week to see what I've posted for class next time.

Fireworks!

As soon as I saw the Roxie paper, I knew I needed to use it for these pictures. Even though it's August during Global Fest, it was so cold, we were wearing winter coats. Roxie seemed to fit right in with our cozy coats and the black of the night to highlight the fireworks. I wanted to showcase the beautiful show along with the fun pictures of all of us. This layout worked the best because since I was able to crop the firework pics down so small. I used the Summer Slice cartridge with the shadowing feature to make the firework die cuts and added some rhinestones for some extra sparkle.

DRCC Session 3 Class #8

Sorry it's taken me so long to post, this last class was actually at the end of June. It's summer though and we've been outside doing summer stuff. Who wants to sit at a computer and blog when we could be enjoying the sunshine.

This was a layout that was pretty easy to make. It was just adding a cute title and embellishments to the Cruisin paper on to it. Because this was more masculine, I made a more feminine layout with Stella. 

I rotated the left page of the layout 90 degrees in order to use a landscape 5x7 photo. You can barely tell that it's the same layout. 

For an easy embellishment, I cut out 2 different sized circles of paper in several different colors, scissor distressed the edges and placed them on top of ribbon with a button centre. I used my Slice for the title.

DRCC Session 3 Class #7

This started out as a fairly simple layout, I added a touch of Sunset here and there and then I found these great chipboard banner pieces. It was easy enough to cover them, it was adding the 3D element. Folded paper just didn't seem to work. So off I went to 2 different scrapbooking stores. I finally found some Olive (I was looking for a dark navy color, but no luck) grosgrain ribbon with stitching so that I could pull the inside stitch together to create the circle. After that it was easy enough to add some cute stamps and glue dot it all together.
