Scrapaholics Unite Session 5 Class 10

If you made it to the retreat you have already experienced the Oh Deer! paper pack and oh my is it ever gorgeous. The reverse side of this paper is pinecones and pine needles.

I decided to play up the fun of the deer on this layout. Along the Whisper grey cardstock is some Juniper washi tape, I dove-tailed my longer piece and then placed it upside down on the washi tape on one half of it. On the other half of the washi tape, I put down the smaller Whisper grey squares, leaving space to fold the tape around the edges. This ensured that I had an even amount of washi tape on all 3 of my squares because I could line them up better instead of cutting out pieces first and then lining them up. The longer cardstock piece anchored the tape well. I then cut the washi tape and folded the edges around the cardstock.

I completed the layout with a Cricut title from Winter Frolic, a wooden deer and some twine wrapped around the bottom of the left side and knotted.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 5 Class 9

Here is another layout using the cute paper from the Holiday Expressions catalogue. This is City Sidewalks and while I have featured the house paper, the other side has these super cute wreaths on it. Can't even describe how cute the rest of the paper in the pack is. I played off of the house theme by stamping a tag with Home for the Holidays and then cut out a door and wreath using the Cricut. I finished off the layout with some glitter trim and I used the zip strip as journaling under one of the photos.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 5 Class 8

It's a party! This is a great layout for any celebration. I used some leftover paper from the For Always and Yuletide Carol. This is busy patterned paper, but when it's in small pieces and strategically placed around the page, it ensures that the patterns don't over power the layout. I finished it off by heat embossing the title with black embossing powder. I also used a scallop border punch for the black strips that go over the pennants, some gold sequins and random background stamping of confetti. This is a great layout for almost any paper and it allows for a large number of pictures.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 5 Class 7

I think when you see this layout in person you will like it even more! I had a couple of paper packs left of a CTMH Promotion from last spring called Happy Times. It has this gorgeous floral paper echoed throughout the pack in different ways, one is beautiful pink with shiny gold outlined flowers, while another is a full coloured version, then a white with a mint/teal green outline. You can see all three different papers in the close up below. I wanted to use these many papers in the layout, without using large pieces of this very busy paper. Plus I needed to have enough for all my students. I saw a similar layout on Pinterest and decided to adapt the layout with this paper pack here to make a patchwork type of background.

To finish off the layout, I used this adorable sewing stamp set for the title, hearts on the right side and the cute banner on the top left page. I also used the gold striped paper from the paper pack and made a band across the page and matted it in pomegranate cardstock. Last piece was the white and gold ribbon around the 5x7 mat.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 5 Class 6

Swan Lake is the paper pack I used for this layout. I decided to play up the femininity of the paper and use a bit of bling to fancy it up. For the title, I heat embossed in gold on black paper so it gives more of a distressed look than straight embossing. I added jewels and sequins as well as the new black and gold ribbon on the top left. I finished off the layout with some gold studs in the bottom corner to draw your eye across the page. Now I just need some girls night out pics to put on this layout. Drinks anyone?

Scrapaholics Unite Session 5 Class 5

Just in time for Halloween, I have made a spooky-cute layout. This is using the new Jeepers Creepers paper pack. I added some washi tape elements, along with some glitter tape and thick twine for some dimension. I played up the eyes on the paper by making eyes out of the O's in Boo for the title. I then finished it off with some cute stamped monsters and popped them up with 3D foam. I know it looks a little white right now, but once the pictures are on it, it will be spooktacular. If I remember, I will add my pics and update this post.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 5 Class 4

This layout is a combination of the Magical paper and an old stamp set call Ticket to Ride. It was a stamp set that went with the old CTMH paper pack called Zippidee. These are all great items for Disney pictures, but I wanted a layout that was more versatile. I don't have Disney pictures so this layout will be full of some Calaway park pics from this past summer. It would also be perfect for a road trip. I also liked that this layout used the entire B&T sheet of paper including the zipstrip. I added corner arrow stamps along with stamping the road sign title and tickets. I finished off the layout with some glitter tape and some black stars.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 5 Class 3

Amidst all this snow we've been having let's warm up and with a nice summer layout. This is using the Calypso paper pack. I used one side as my base pages and then used the other side of the paper for the blue strips on the top and bottom then the zipstrips for the colourful words along the top of the layout. I added a journaling block on the left page and embellished with a stamped tree and some stamped circles and hearts then popped them up with 3D foam tape on top of the tree. The versatility of the layout is nice as you can put pictures in whichever arrangement suits you best. I just highlighted one picture by placing it on a Lagoon mat. I finished it off with some pink polka-dotted washi tape and a Pear title cut from the CTMH Artbooking cartridge.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 5 Class 2

I had some leftover paper from previous classes that I thought would come together quite nicely for a fall layout. This layout is using 4 different paper packs, but all with a common colour, Sunset. I have also used Cocoa, Pomegranate and Slate to bring in the secondary colours throughout the paper packs. I have to say that I'm quite impressed with how everything came together. I also chose to use the September stamp of the month, Blessed Beyond Measure, which has this super cute pumpkin and some adorable thankful sayings on it. I used the CTMH Artbooking cartridge for the leaves, vine and pumpkin, then used the Artistry cartridge for the title. I added fall words around the edge of the blocks to frame everything in. See below for a quick and easy step by step on my multi-toned leaves.

Supplies needed: 2 inks and a sponge.
First, you sponge the lighter coloured ink all over the leaf. I used Sunset here.
Take the darker colour (Pomegranate) and ink around the edges of the leaf leaving the centre the Sunset colour. Also concentrate more of the ink to the edge of the leaf by going over the outsides more than once until the desired blending is achieved.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 5 Class 1

Welcome back! I have had quite the busy summer, but the nice thing is that I have lots of pictures to scrapbook. I will definitely be using our adventures in the summer as inspiration for some class layouts this session. This first layout is using the Florence paper from a few Seasonal Expression catalogues ago. It has a beautiful subtle pattern in both the red and yellow papers. The zipstrip also has this beautiful flower detail on it that I used as inspiration for the title block and the quote papers. I added some 3D dimension by stamping the title twice and cutting out the Love and popping it up with 3D foam. As well, I only adhered the middles of the flowers and bent the petals up so that they stick up. I finished off the layout with some sequins and some a bit of journaling inside one of the pennants.

Mother and Daughter Mini Book Workshop

Front cover and inside first page
The Mother and Daughter Mini Book Workshop is being held on May 7 at 1:30 pm. This is my sample book so you can see what you can potentially make with the book. This was a pretty quick book to make up. I used the Beautiful You Picture My Life cards and the My Creations Black Mini Book for this project. I accented with the gold foil tape as well as heat embossing several pages.
Pages 2-7
Pages 8-13

Pages 14-19
Last page
The other options for this mini book is the My Creations Kraft mini book. You can then choose your own set of Picture My Life cards from the many available. You will be purchasing at minimum a book and a set of cards to take part in the workshop (you are free to use prepurchased PML cards if you already have some).  Each pack of cards was enough to do 2 books depending on how you use the cards and how many pictures you use. I will also have accents, such as the gold foil tape, silver foil tape, washi tape and ribbons and of course many different colors of embossing powder to use along with the multitudes of stamp sets available. These extra accessories are included in the $5.00 workshop fee.

Please remember to bring along a tape runner, scissors, a paper trimmer and an assortment of pictures that can be reduced down in size to under 4"x6".

Registration for this workshop will close next Thursday, April 28th at 8:30 pm. Please contact me with your choices of book and PML cards by the RSVP deadline.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 4 Class 12

Happy...whatever! This layout can go any which way - to a birthday, wedding, or even just a happy day. This is the Heartstrings paper pack from 2015, but I had lots left and thought it was quite festive. I did an emboss resist technique for the cake so that the stamp detail is white, while the cake itself is inked in different colors. I finished the layout with some washi tape pennants and a little saying. There is lots of room for pictures so the format can be changed any way you need it to. I used the May Stamp of the Month for this layout, it made the cake and the accent piece.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 4 Class 11

Welcome back to the Urban paper pack. We used this paper in a previous class for a family layout. I also purchased this super cute Teacher Appreciation Stamp Set that had this cute owl in a Grad cap that I've been dying to use (I loooove owls). I obviously don't have a real graduate, but Archer did get professional pics done for his preschool graduation last year that are just too cute. Now I just need to print the pics from his ceremony and doesn't the cool blue paper from Urban go so well with the school/graduation theme?

As for the layout, I used a cut out piece from the CTMH Artiste cartridge for the large blue background piece and accented with the slate backside of the Urban paper. The title is a cut from the Artistry cartridge and I popped in a polaroid shaped stamp from the April Stamp of the Month. You could turn this layout into a picture page as well and use all the funky cameras from the April SOTM instead of the graduating owl (there is also a globe with a grad cap on top in case you don't want the owl).

Scrapaholics Unite Session 4 Class 10

I'm not sure if anyone remembers this paper, but it's call Summer Celebration. It was a promotion a while back and I've always wanted to use this paper with the coordinating stamp set, but just couldn't find a the perfect layout. Well I saw some inspiration with the right page and all the little strips of paper and thought it made the very bright prints work really well together. This is a great layout for a paper pack you have left over that you don't have lots of paper left, just a few pieces, it could really work any which way, either horizontal or vertical. I added some cardstock as well as the cute phrases to play up the summer fruit theme. It could also be split up to be 2 separate one page layouts since I used the "Orange you sweet" on the left and "Pucker Up" on the right. The little piece on the bottom says "You're Berry Special". I'm thinking of using some pictures from berry and fruit picking in Kelowna on this layout. I finished it off with some glitter tape and some glitter gems.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 4 Class 9

While I didn't use any CTMH patterned paper for this layout, I did get inspiration from the CTMH Artbooking cartridge. It has some good sports pages and die-cuts to cut out. This layout does have the freedom to place a number of pictures throughout the layout, but I limited myself to the team picture and a few others so as not to overload the layout as I wanted Archer to be the focus. An alternative would be to put more pictures that are smaller instead of a few larger. I also used the small orange cardstock piece as a mat, but it could also be used as a journaling block. I am letting my students choose their sport and team color to accent with. I might post some alternatives if I remember!

Scrapaholics Unite Session 4 Class 8

The Kaleidoscope paper works well with an Easter theme so I decided to play up the bits of color in the paper by tissue paper inking my eggs. I cut out the bunny and the title with the Artistry Cricut cartridge and these cute eggs are on the Art Philosophy one. I just added some washi tape to finish it off. There is lots of room for a journaling block if needed.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 4 Class 7

Well this layout was a bit challenging because I wanted to leave the layout open to events other than St. Patrick's Day. If you replace the shamrocks and the horseshoe's then it's just a spring layout. I like that the colours worked well together. The patterned paper is from the new Penelope paper pack. An alternative to the dark green (topiary) colour is Thistle, a nice purple. I will give my class the choice of making this a spring layout or a St. Patrick's Day layout. I'll post the alternative layout if I have a chance to make it up before class happens.

I used Cricut shapes for the horseshoe border and the shamrocks from . I curved the stamp "Somewhere over the rainbow" to fit with the curve of the rainbow.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 4 Class 6

I can't believe we're at class 6 already. I feel like it just started. It's nice that I am getting positive feedback from my students. They are loving the layouts. I'm just hoping the rest of the blogosphere is as well. This is the Urban paper and most people see masculine layouts with it. In order to appeal to the masses, I've made it more of a family layout. I used an old stamp set with stamps that fit inside a 2x2 square so these were great to fit along with this cool layout with the blocks on the side. As I just realized that I forgot to write my photo sizes on the white paper, the left picture is a 4x6 and all of the white squares on the right at 2x2. You can also fill in every square with a photo as well, or expand past the current blocks with photos too. To create the title, I cut out a shape using the Artbooking Cricut cartridge, did some background swirls underneath and then adhered with 3D foam tape.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 4 Class 5

I have had a few people say that the didn't really like the La Vie En Rose paper pack. Now I've said this about a few before so I held my tongue about this one and just thought, well, you need to see it differently sometimes, that's all. When you see the paper in the catalogue, you're somewhat thrown off by the big bold print of the flowers that you don't notice the really cool geometric black and white patterns in it. So I decided to play it up a bit by using the new Cascading Charms stamp set along the bottom of the layout. Then with the flower paper and the black and white paper and a white matte, it really plays up the red and makes the flowers more subtle. I accented using the zip strip on the top right and added a simple title.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 4 Class 4

This is a great preview of the March Stamp of the Month called Sunshine Birdies. I combined it with the Kaleidoscope paper for a symmetrical layout that has room for lots of pictures. I got this layout from the Scrappin Katy Blog here. She used Kaleidoscope paper as well, but in a different way. To do the title, I used the sun cut from the Artiste Cartridge and then stamped the "You are my sunshine" onto a circle then popped it up with 3D tape.  I then finished the layout off with some buttons and the new silver foil tape in the corners.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 4 Class 3

I am in love with this layout, not just because of my adorable kids, but because it has a wonderful subtle tone to it. This is the Charlotte Paper Pack and it has this great heart and arrow theme to it. Perfect for a love layout and just in time for Valentine's day. I used a Picture My Life card for the left side of the layout and added a simple title from the Artistry Cartridge with some black hemp tied around some of the letters. Using the Artfully sent and Artistry Cartridges, I made the heart die cuts for the right page. I popped up the heart and arrow card and then put 3D hearts underneath. To pop out the heart circles, I just placed them on some Smoothie cardstock, added a few stamps and I was done. See the close up pics of the title and heart below.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 4 Class 2

I'm going to apologize in advance for the not so good picture, but you can only do so much with a phone camera. Sometimes they're pretty good, but not the best this week. This layout looks super cute in person. I'm using the Regatta paper pack with the gradient paper and on the other side of the gradient paper is a light blue stripe on white, very hard to see from here, but it is visible. To add some fun to the title, I placed the gold polka dotted Washi tape on white cardstock and cut out "Bright" with the new Artistry Cricut Cartridge. I then adhered it with 3D foam tape before stamping "Life is". I finished off the layout with more Washi tape and some antiqued brass embellishments. I also forgot to write in the sizes of the photos. All of the white papers on the pomegranate paper are representative of photo's, sorry about that, I usually write the sizes on them.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 4 Class 1

I know it's not Christmas anymore, but that's the best time to scrapbook your holiday pictures. This is the White Pines paper pack from the Holiday Expressions book. It has a great zipstrip that you can see running across the top of the page.

I added Christmas Village stamps to the bottom of the page using Cocoa ink. I coloured in certain parts of the houses to add a bit of colour to them. Each person can colour in as much or as little as they want. I added clear Stickles to the snow on the roofs of the buildings. I don't have journaling for my page yet so I used this nice silhouette stamp on the red Cranberry cardstock piece. Using Versamark ink, I stamped the image and then heat embosses it with white then I stamped it again and heat set it once more using clear sparkle embossing powder. This makes the image easy to see, but adds the sparkle I want.
