Scrapaholics Unite Session 2 Class 7

This layout will be different for each person attending class as I introduced the Picture My Life cards into this layout with the 4x6 paper on the right side. I chose a cute rainbow card, but the cards range from Happy Birthday to just a cute picture. I like that it brought in the Garden Green color to the Babycakes paper pack as some of my customers thought that the Chocolate, Slate (grey), Sunset (orange) and Buttercup (yellow) colors were too retro for their liking. The Garden Green brings in a softness and updates this paper pack a bit. I also brought some texture in by using Slate ribbon as the bottom pennant and I also added some cork circles to the top right.

DRCC Session 7 Class #11

Alright ladies, this is the last class of the session. While most of my layout designs are from the CTMH voluminous series of design books, I recently saw this blog post from Creating Keepsakes and thought that the layout by Jing-Jing Nickel would be a great class for my ladies. Of course I have changed it somewhat as I don't have quite as many layers, but the concept is about the same and I got to use lots of washi tape!!

I cut out the title using the CTMH Cricut Artbooking cartridge and the background large circle was from the Artiste cartridge.

I used the Balloon Ride paper pack again as the colors matched so wonderfully, but I pulled out the green of the water in the hippo tank by using Juniper as a mat for the pictures and in the washi tape as well. I added accents of the sorbet this time, by only using the ribbon.

This may be the last blog post for some time, until baby #2 arrives and we settle in over the summer (although I did do a super cute layout at the last retreat that I would love to share), but I will be having workshops in my basement as I've been able to stumble upon some great deals on tables and chairs recently so that I have somewhere for everyone to sit and work on! I'm excited to host them in my own home as it will definitely make it a bit easier for me especially with 2 kids, but I will definitely miss my class at Deer Run. It has been marvellous these past 3 years and I hope you all can come to my house for my classes! I do think we'll still have crops in the south occasionally, but the cry from my north ladies is quite loud lately. Please comment and share and I will see you again in the Fall!

PS. there may be a new post in August about the wonderful new Idea Book coming out and possibly a baby pic or 20...

DRCC Session 4 Class #1

After a great summer, I'm ready to get back into the swing of things. This session will be 12 weeks long so that means 12 great layouts to scrap. With the new Idea Book, there are some really nice papers that you'll be seeing. This layout uses paper from La Belle Vie. I thought it worked well for a more loving layout. I used the new Tulle ribbon and also cut out some die cuts and Je t'aime from my Slice cartridge J'adore. Please come back later this week to see what I've posted for class next time.

DRCC Session 3 Class #6

I have been wanting to use the wide chocolate and colonial white ribbon for quite some time now, but I just never seemed to make it work on a layout. This layout originally has a piece of paper in place of the ribbon, but I wanted to bring a different color onto this layout other than blue, considering that my pictures have red as the dominant color. I hope that you also think that the blue and brown balance out all of the red. I used rub on letters for the title and added some scalloped 3D accents.

DRCC Session 2 Class #5

For this week's layout, I wanted to play up the Lucy paper that already has little crowns drawn on it so I cut out the title and the big crown from my Big Kids cartridge on the Slice. I like the addition of the Grey Wool paper to this paper pack as it gives a nice soft touch that isn't super girly. It tied together all of the pictures of my niece that were taken over a span of time.

To create the ribbon flower in the top right corner I did the following with a length of stitched grosgrain ribbon:

Step 1: From the same side of the ribbon, pull the ends of the thread away from the ribbon so that you have enough to grab onto.
Step 2: Continue pushing the ribbon together while keeping both ends of the thread loose until the ribbon has gathered completely in the middle.

Step 3: Tie the thread in a knot tightly to secure the circle shape.

Step 4: Clip off the end of the thread and use a Glue Dot to adhere the 2 ends of the ribbon together so that they don't show.
Step 5: Adhere a button or other embellishment to the middle of your flower and you are ready to adhere it to your project using more Glue Dots.

You can change the size of the flower by using different sized ribbon and also using a longer length of ribbon. I used approximately 10" of ribbon, but this ribbon is 1" wide.

Ribbon Tree

I thought I would try making a ribbon tree since my paper trees turned out pretty well. This was quite labor intensive because I picked smaller ribbon and decided to evenly place my ribbon in rows instead of more abstractly as I've seen other crafters do. For the star, I heat embossed a chipboard star with red glitter embossing powder. Then I wrapped wire around the star and heat embossed it again to cover the wire with red glitter.

If you like this tree, I will be selling it and some of my other Christmas crafts tomorrow at the M.O.B. Craft Fair and Trade Show at the Fish Creek Library from 1-4pm.

DRCC Session 1 Class #3

For this layout, I used 4-4x4 photo's and 1-8x10 photo. If you don't have an 8x10 photo you would like to use, 4-4x5 pictures can also be bunched together in that area. Color photo's are fine as well. We'll also be focusing on inking at the next class and by that, I mean edging paper and photos in ink to give them definition. I'll also be demonstrating a neat trick on how to cut your ribbon so that your knot is placed exactly where you want it.

We'll also be using some a few embellishments, a rub-on, brads, photo clips and the new Foundry Pin Clips pictured here.

For my students, if you would like a deep purple or a dark green in place of the brown cardstock, please email me by Monday for when I prep the class. Start thinking about title's too! See you on Tuesday!

Please email me as well if you would like more information on my classes.
