Session 8 Class 10

Once again, another session is ending. At least I got pictures on this layout. And they're only from last summer! This paper is from one of my all-time favourite paper packs - Jack! I love the versatility of it and the colour combination is so cool. If you want to go more outdoorsy, you can flip the tree paper to show some lumberjacks. I might have to make another one for a certain lumberjack in my family! I also have been wanting to use this super cute Boler RV stamp set so I created my own border paper with black ink and Juniper cardstock. I cut the title out from the Campin' Critters Cricut Cartridge and used the zip strips to frame the large picture on the left side. You could make that photo portrait as well and then place the zipstrips on the sides of the photo instead of the top and bottom. To complete the layout, I created my own pennant banner to echo the one on the Boler stamp. To add a bit more colour, you could colour in the pennant on the stamped image as well.

I think this is a great layout to start everyone's summer with. If you don't already have pictures you can definitely take some this summer! See you again in the Fall!

Spring 2018 Retreat Make n Take's

Here are the samples of the make n takes for the retreat I'm hosting next weekend in Banff.

2-PAGE LAYOUT CLASS

I used the Chelsea Gardens paper pack for this layout. I adored the January stamp of the month that has this great seed packet stamp set that you can replace the centre of it with different phrases. I cut the beautiful flowers and pot from the Cricut Flower Market cartridge as well as the Springtime title. I'm hoping that it will get warm enough so we can actually plant some flowers so I can fill this layout with some pictures!

MINI CARD WORKSHOP

I picked up these cute stamp sets along with the matching die-cuts during the die-namite sale in March. They match perfectly with the Stargazer paper and lately I'm really getting into colouring in the die-cuts with my Shin Han markers. For these cards, you could do 2 boy cards or 2 girl cards as an option if you'd like.

WARM FUZZY CARDS

These cute mini cards are great for sending a quick birthday, thank you or thinking of you note. You can stamp whichever sentiment you would like on these cards as I have lots of options.

Session 8 Class 9

I found this great pack in my old stash somewhere, no idea where I got it from, but it has this great alphabet paper and some great bold patterns in it. I have just enough for kits this week with this layout. I used the School kids stamp set and thin cuts for the kids, apple and school. I had a bit of fun with colouring in the kids and the school, but if you wanted to colour in only a few items on them, it would still look cute. In another stamp set I have a cute chalkboard that would work for a few sayings on the inside, or leave it blank and use it for journalling. Feel free to place whichever sized pictures throughout the layout as I know that school pictures are usually either a bit bigger or a bit smaller than the 3x3's. Using another stamp set could also transform this layout into a cute primary one for a kid wearing bright colours or a party. I finished off this layout with some twine and I also added a stamp that is a folder tab underneath the top of the large photo.

Session 8 Class 8

Here's some summer amidst all this snow that seems like it will never stop! This is from an older paper pack called Surf's Up. I always liked the retro 60's feel. This isn't an overly complicated layout, but with the lagoon base pages it makes the other colours in the paper pop. Small touches, such as the sea star border underneath the title and the wooden shape amongst the flowers. Each layout will have a different assortment of flowers and there are 3 different wooden shapes to choose from, seashell, dolphin and seahorse. I hope this layout brightens your day!

Session 8 Class 7

I've had these camera stamp sets on my desk for quite a while, but the inspiration hasn't come until this week! I found an old paper pack, Stella. I love the colour combination with this paper pack. This has quite a bit of stamping, but I love the final layout. I created the camera sheet on the left side by stamping the camera's in a repeat pattern and filling the open spaces with a few words. I cut the camera from the You Are Here Cricut Cartridge. I finished off the layout with a cute washi tape banner, some jewels and baker's twine.

Session 8 Class 6

I found this cool gold flecked paper and some clear and gold "paper" in my stash that I wanted to use with this cool layout from Scrapbook Generations. It is a pretty easy layout to assemble. Just don't forget to take the plastic backing off of the clear and gold pieces. I accented this page with a gold foil Cricut title from the Flower Market. I added some sequins and some black glitter & gold foil tape.

Session 8 Class 5

This is an old paper pack, but such a cute one. This is Cherry-o from a few years back, but it has such cute paper I've been wanting to incorporate it into a class. I like this layout because it allows me to use the many pieces of patterned paper, yet it's not a busy layout. I accented the layout by using the polka dot embossing folder on the left side on the blue cardstock. I added some baker's twine and stamped some cherries for the bottom right page. I also stamped a few sentiments on cardstock to accent some pictures. Feel free to place them wherever you like.

Session 8 Class 4

The Making Waves paperpack is truly magical, it has some beautiful pieces of paper and the accessories are beautiful. My daughter keeps stealing all of the accessories off my desk so I have to go hunting for them.

I took some inspiration for this layout from the seasonal expression catalogue by using the circles as scales on the right page. To combine it into a 2 page layout, I used an overlay from the Artbooking Cartridge. I cut out the left scales using the centre cut function and then used the outside border as a frame on the right page. I added some stamping to accent the page with the lovely mermaid, some bubbles and the super cute saying. This layout could become 2 1-page layouts as well. The picture placement is open for what works for your pictures as well.

Session 8 Class 3

I was saying goodnight to my son and the famous line "I love you to the moon and back"  from the wonderful book, Guess How Much I Love You, popped into my head. Lightbulb moment I guess as I had been struggling all day to come up with an idea for this weeks class. I played around with the CTMH stamp with the saying and the new Stargazer paper as I didn't want this layout to be overly gender specific. I like that the title box isn't overpowering the layout, but you can still see it since I used a mask to create the double coloured image. I random stamped the stars around the image and then adhered the moon with 3D foam. I used the star image from the Charming Cascades stamp set in the corners of the base pages and then completed the layout with a rocket and Saturn cut with the Cricut. As the rocket ship paper is quite busy, it was important to find balance and not have it crowd the page.

Session 8 Class 2

This is the new Gimme Some Sugar paper. You should definitely check out the full paper pack if you are looking for something cute for some kitchen pictures. There are some great papers and some cute sayings on the PML card sheet. To make this layout, the bulk papers are this cute floral and a nice juniper polka dot. The bottom left rectangle on the left page is a Picture My Life (PML) card. Each person will be able to choose their own PML card. I used a cut from the Flower Market cartridge to create the wreath surrounding the journalling space on the right side. The title was cut from the You Are Here cartridge as well. I finished off the layout with some blue roses on the top left. Below is the layout with my pictures and the journalling complete.

Session 8 Class 1

Welcome back to another scrapbooking session. This is another 10 week class and I hope you all enjoy it as much as my previous ones.

I started off with inspiration from the current Idea Book. Versions of each of these pages show up in the catalogue, but I saw them and wanted to combine them into a cohesive 2-page layout. I used an old paper pack called Sangria that has some lovely purples, oranges and reds throughout the papers. I've used this paper previously, but usually in a fall layout. This time I played up the purple by using Eggplant cardstock as my base pages. I utilized the Center Point function on my Cricut in order to cut the heart in the middle of the page. I also used the cut out heart to over lay the strips of paper and then adhered it back onto the base page. I added texture and dimension to the left page by embossing 2 of the hearts as well as stamping a pattern on the 3rd. The mix of patterned paper and photos was balanced by the solid colour of the base pages. I finished off the layout with a couple of stamped images and some embellishments from the Sangria Complements pack. Each of the attendees to my class will be able to choose their own embellishments to make this layout unique to their own tastes.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 7 Class 9

Another blast from the past, this is the Pear and Partridge paper, I combined it with the new Bearly Christmas paper, which is the green patterned on the bottom. An alternative layout is to use the Bearly Christmas paper with the back side of the Pear and Partridge as that is also a green with a mild pattern. Each person is able to choose a Picture My Life card to go on the right page, I chose a beautiful triangle tree as I am hoping to put pictures of our pear tree with a partridge sitting in it on this page once we get our Christmas decorations out. Alternatively, you can stamp the Santa in the middle of the extra piece of cardstock and use that piece as the PML card. The title was cut using the Artbooking Cricut cartridge and I popped up my Santa using 3D foam tape after fussy cutting. I completed the layout with a cute kraft bow and a coloured paper clip.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 7 Class 8

I had a couple of requests to do a travel page and since my sister and I went to Paris in May, I had to scrapbook some of those pictures. These are all 4x6 photos but amazingly there are 6 on this page and there is still lots of room. I used two old paper packs, but because they are solid colour patterns they work well together. I also used the zipstrip from one paper pack as it used both the sorbet and the outdoor denim to tie it all in. I pulled the light brown (champagne colour) from the background of the sorbet print. I also used my Paris pictures so that I could take advantage of the fleur de lis pattern on the Outdoor Denim patterned. I finished it off with some Cricut cuts and a cool title. Alternatively, you could add some smaller pictures in place of the journaling spot.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 7 Class 7

I saw these 2 separate layouts in the idea book and online at CTMH and loved how they were done and thought that they would look cool as a 2 page layout for my class. I found some black and white patterned 6x6 cards that I had stashed in my card box that I haven't used in a while that looks really cool with this geometric pattern. combined with some black and lagoon cardstock, I love how this layout pops out. I completed the layout with more patterned washi tape, glitter tape and some black dots. I also painted the title with the shimmer brush to give it some subtle sparkle. The two pages can also be split by adding a title onto the left page, then you have a cover page and an end page for your books.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 7 Class 6

This layout features the Feel So Blessed September Stamp of the Month. It has a beautiful feather image as well as some lovely sayings on it. I created the feather paper strips by randomly brick layering the feather stamp set using one of the new CTMH colours, Charcoal. I used the Falling For You paper pack as the patterned paper. I accented the page with a lovely flower Cricut cut and the title from the Flower Market cartridge. I used one of the many sayings from the Feel so Blessed stamp set which features outlined letters that I took advantage of and coloured in on the sentiment using the yellow for the two words I wanted to stand out. I also coloured in the leaves that I stamped to frame the sentiment. To complete the layout, I used the zipstrip from the Falling for You paper pack, some grey ribbon and grey sequins.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 7 Class 5

This was a combination of Jeepers Creepers from 2016 and the new Cats and Bats paper. I like the effect the black and white stripe make on the layout as well as the accenting of the monster paper. I used the Mini Monster cartridge for the Monsters title and the witches hat and accented with some glitter tape and a couple of halloween accent stamps.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 7 Class 4

This week's layout is made by a guest designer, Carissa Peach. She's my very talented sister/photographer and while she was visiting me during the summer she helped me out by creating this super cute layout. She actually credits my son with the idea as he tells the cutest kid joke:

Kid: What did one cactus say to the other?
Parent: I don't know...
Kid: You look sharp!

He delivers that joke in the best way. Totally corny, but when you have cactus paper and some super cute colours, it makes for a great title! She also cut out some extra cacti from the Flower Market Cricut cartridge and then accented with some cute stamps. I also like that she incorporated the supercute zipstrip from the Prickly Pear paper pack on the top of the right photo well. To add some texture, she did a background tone-on-tone stamp on the Tangerine paper on the left.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 7 Class 3

With the snow apparently descending on Calgary tomorrow evening, this seems like a great time to break out your beach pictures especially considering how hot it's been this past week and now snow in the forecast. That is Calgary weather for you. I'm using the No Worries paper for this layout again. If you attended my Spring Banff retreat, this is a great accompanying layout to the one we did at the retreat. Not the same, but with the same paper pack and tones, it would be perfect for the same beach trip. For this layout, I did get to play with the new You Are Here Cricut Cartridge and coordinating stamp sets. It is the perfect cartridge for travel. Can't wait to do my Paris trip with the cartridge! I also used the stamp set that you can only exclusively get when purchasing the cartridge. I repurposed a banner that I used for my daughter's luau birthday party by using the twine, the die cuts of palm trees, pineapples and flowers that has this great gold trim. The set also included some cute mini gold studs that I didn't wind up using on the banner, but looks great on this layout.

Scrapaholics Unite Session 7 Class 1

I admit it, I'm obsessed with the Jack paper pack, but I have a weakness for red and black plaid. Unfortunately the bulk paper doesn't use the red and black plaid, but it does have this cute tree print. Alternatively the back side of the tree print is a cool lumberjack pattern. I'll leave it up to you on which side you prefer for your layout, they are both pretty cool. I used a double layered Cricut cut for the title and stamped various images and sentiments throughout the layout. I accented with a few triangle studs.

Spring 2017 Scrapbooking Retreat Workshops

Hi all, I've actually finished the workshops for the retreat, before the retreat. I think this might be a record. Now hopefully I can prep them in time too.

These cards use the Sugar Rush paper. I designed these so that they can be changed around if wanted, the You're Sweet card could be a Thank You or a Birthday card. By changing the sentiment on the front of the ice cream card, it could also change to something else. Versatility!

Father's Day Card and Mother's Day Card

The Father's Day card features the new paper pack from the Season Expression 2 catalogue called Jack (I may rave about it all weekend as I positively looove the red and black plaid). This card can also be changed to something other than Father's Day by stamping a different sentiment on the bottom. The Tea-rrific card is another versatile card as it can change depending upon the inside sentiment, but there is a matching teacup that says Happy Mother's Day that I stamped inside. This card is also using the gorgeous Live Beautifully paper that will be featured for National Scrapbooking Month in May.

Another new paper pack, No Worries is a beautiful beachy/nautical paper. I created this cute 2 page layout that is great for a lake, beach or somewhere with a tropical beverage.
